Gather We demonstrate stewardship by carefully sourcing logs or split wood through trusted community connections and responsible tree or logging services. Each batch represents our commitment to thoughtful repurpose and ensuring transparency in our process. We offer a batch at a time, sharing the journey of each piece—to your firepit—until all the wood from that lot has been put to good use.
Inspect We use two different applications, such as PictureThis and Xylorix Pocketwood, to verify the wood species. Because scan results can differ between these apps and even from one scan to another, we take multiple images from various angles and under different lighting conditions. This approach increases the likelihood of accurate identification when we lack details on the backstory.
Split We define micro-wood according to firepit diameter (where “d” after a number refers to diameter, “l” = length, “w” = width, and “d” = depth): 7" diameter firepit = approximately 4" length x 1.75" width x 1.5" depth (shown here) 15" diameter firepit = approximately 8" length x 2.5" width x 2.0" depth These micro-wood sizes optimize efficient burning and easy handling in firepits of the specified diameters.
Season We season our firewood for three to six months, or longer, to ensure it burns efficiently and safely at your firepit. Throughout this period, we periodically use a Proster moisture meter to sample the wood's moisture level. Our goal is for each piece to reach a content less than 20%, which assures well-prepared wood for clean burning and optimal performance.
Store We store all sanitized EZ Wood™ under roof. Our sanitization process removes pests and contaminants, ensuring the wood is clean and safe for your firepit. Storing the wood in this way preserves its cleanliness and dryness throughout storage and transport, so you receive wood that’s always ready to burn—delivering a hassle-free, enjoyable firepit experience every time.
